Oil Paintings
Each painting is a journey. I spend a lot of time selecting a subject or scene and designing the composition. Then it is time for the rubber to meet the road or paint to meet the canvas. Then the problem solving continues; how will I actually create this illusion of space and textures. Exactly how will I apply the paint. Brushes and palette knives are my tools. My techniques continue to grow. By using different brushes, sometimes only their tips, sometimes fully loaded with paint for bold strokes then coming back and dragging the brush on its side across a textured surface for detail, I am able to build toward the completed work.
